Course 3:The art and influence of communication
In this course, you’ll explore the power of language and communication, and how person-centred, trauma-informed approaches can improve care for parents receiving a prenatal diagnosis. You’ll learn to tune into cues for responsive communication with parents in distress and apply strategies to reduce the threat response. You’ll be introduced to frameworks for communicating fetal findings, including considerations for working with parents who have already received the news. Finally, you’ll use a cause-and-effect diagram to examine systemic and interpersonal factors that can lead to communication breakdowns.
